Cresswell played like that for two games running now. Both games he's played in. Think with a good player in front of him he's mint as he's able to predict more accurately what that player will do and how he should position himself.

Re: Southampton v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 1-2
That was Cresswell's best game in a long while. If he keeps that up, he's clearly a better option than Masuaku. It's just a shame he doesn't play like that more often.

Antonio also looks like he's getting back to his best. Defensively he's not great, but it was more than made up for by the attack leading up to the goal.

Anderson's runs and strikes were really the difference between the two sides. He could have had four goals on another day.

Agreed. I feel he buys into MP and the philosophy of thinking and playing like a big team. Read people saying we will be lucky to keep him,not if we are fighting for a top 6 next season and so on, same with The General.

Diops humble as fuck. Still doesn't think he's playing well despite us thinking he's a monster. He ain't going anywhere, for now.

Diop is the one we'll have most trouble hanging onto. He's fucking class.

Re: Southampton v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 1-2
this as a game that I thought we’d lose given Sotons recent form and our injury absentees, however that was a top drawer performance and to be honest we made them look ordinary. Anderson, Antonio, Fab and get again Rice (what a player) had stellar performances. I just hope we can keep hold of them because our resolve is going to be seriously tested next summer, and that’s always the problem for a club looking to get to that next level. Maybe I’m getting carried away but if we keep the right players and sell and recruit wisely we could be on the verge of doing just that.

Not the greatest passer, but what a ball by Antonio on his weaker foot with quite a lot of time to panic. Well done.

Multiplying by the "bedding-in period adjustment factor" of (number of games actually played)/(number of games played - 4), we "should" have 34.2points, or be in 6th place, so RBS is spot on...

We are now at the half way stage of the season. And 7th should be the marker now. Possibly 6th.? But knowing us the injury’s will mean finishing 11th.

Massive credit has to go to Pellegrini for managing the squad with the amount of injuries we have rotated players well especially the senior ones like Nobes cresswell Zabaleta

Re: Southampton v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 1-2
We were great, especially considering the injury situation. Southampton were dire and they're fortunate that the score didn't finish 3 or 4-1.

Some of our one-touch passing and the way that we spread the ball about was a joy to watch; although Southampton made it very easy for us. You can't take anything away from us though.

Our second goal on the counter-attack was particularly pleasing. We literally had 4 or 5 players on the attack waiting to receive the through-ball from Antonio. It's the sort of goal that Liverpool or Man City at their most devastating would score.

Anderson looked very much like a £42m player tonight. A truly sublime performance. Absolute class. Keep it up, son.

My only complaint from tinight is that our songs are a bit shit aren't they?

Anderson deserves a much a better one than that generic shit.

Snoddy deserves his own song.

Diops song is woeful.

And we shpuld be belting out SIGN HIM UP SIGN HIM UP DECLAN RICE for at least 30 mins for each half.

Re: Southampton v West Ham - Official Match Thread FT 1-2
I like the way Pellegrini talks up Anderson as a game changer but still says he is improving and gives the ball away too much.
Keep pushing the players to get better & improve them

Squad massacred by injury and we turn in that performance. I don't think any other manager we have had ever would have got that out of our team and I've seen Lyall's, Bonds & Redknapps sides. Redknapp would have just moaned about being down to the bare bones! I am loving this team. Snod is our Milner
